This Present Age

Looking for the blessed hope and the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Christ Jesus

The believers "go to verse".

What is the context of this verse? Why is it so relevant in this present age

The book, written in AD 62, is Paul's letter to Titus. In the very first verse, Paul instructs Titus to speak sound doctrine.

The word sound and doctrinein chapter two, are mentioned three times.

    • sound doctrine
    • sound in speech
    • sound in your faith
    • purity in doctrine
    • adorn the doctrine of God.

The word sound means to be healthy, well, uncorrupt, or not a mixture of errors.

The word doctrine implies teaching, instruction, or educating.

Therefore if your doctrine is sound, you should have uncorrupt teaching and not a mixture of errors in your instruction.

The word "sound", used in this context, is also found in the following passages:

    • Titus 1:9
    • Titus 3:8
    • 1st Timothy 1:10;13
    • 1st Timothy 6:3

OK…👌 what is the context of this chapter that leads us to verse 13? The verse we all have come to know and love.💜

Step one: “speak 🗣 the things which are fitting for sound doctrine.” i.e. the Gospel, the rapture, the commandment of love, etc.

Step two: instruct the older on how to mold the younger. We see this very thing being broken apart today.

Step three: If your doctrine is sound, your enemy cannot criticise you!

in this present age, Is our speech sound?

Today, we have more people denying who Jesus is than ever before. America is in decline.

In just 10 short years, this present age is less godly than any other generation before.

Why is this?

This present age is full of TikTok's and Snapchats rather than:

hey, "tick-tock Jesus is coming"

or for those left behind, "oh Snap", where did all the people go?

In this chapter, we are pointed twice, to the deity of Christ.

Why is this?

I think Paul knew it would be questioned. as it was in his present age.

Who is Jesus?

In verse eleven, we read about “the grace of God has appeared bringing salvation to all men.” Jesus laid down His life in such a horrific way, as we read in Isaiah chapter 52. The prophet says,

Isaiah 52:14

"Just as many were astonished at you, My people,
So His appearance was marred more than any man
And His form more than the sons of men."

Those are the facts. Yet, this present age denies it. The world would rather

sin then be saved

The Church would rather conform than correct

When we, as His redeemed, KNOW what Christ did for us, why do we not “deny godliness” and “worldly desires”?

Why is living sensibly, righteously, and godly in the present age, tougher than ever?

In the present age, at this very time, WE, the church, are NOT denying ungodliness or worldly desires. WE are not living sensibly, and righteously.

This present age is full of lawlessness, perversion, deception, satanic oppression, demonic possession, selfishness, ungodliness, and more.

Who exactly is looking for the blessed hope and the appearance of our great God and Savior Christ Jesus?

As we look for our blessed hope in this present age, may we also consider how difficult it is to live in this present age

If we go back, however, to the very two words that Paul said in the beginning to Titus, to live in this present age sensibly, righteously, and godly we must adhere to sound doctrine.

Days of Noah

Noah’s day… 1,600 years had passed from the time of creation  until the flood. If you read the account in Genesis 6 you can see how very bad it was.  It is said, the population in Noah's day was around 6 billion people. Everyone lived so long while re-populating the earth.  Hence the reason AFTER the flood, God made man’s lifespan 1/8 of what it used to be.  Verse 3 in Genesis 6  Then the Lord said, “My Spirit will not put up with humans for such a long time, for they are only mortal flesh. In the future, their normal lifespan will be no more than 120 years   In Noah’s day, you had Nephilites. They were fallen angels who were bred with humans.   Genesis 6:4 In those days, and for some time after, giant Nephilites lived on the earth, for whenever the sons of God had intercourse with women, they gave birth to children who became the heroes and famous warriors of ancient times Let us see how God felt about humanity... The Lord observed the extent of human...

12-21-22 Maybe Today

We all seem to pass right by the first four verses in Luke. We get to the part when our savior, Jesus was born but have you taken time to study out the first four verses? This part seems to be omitted when telling the CHRIST mas story, or as we pagans say, the birth of Christ.  Why do we, as followers of Christ, believe that a sinless man came to earth and that His sole purpose was to die on a cross for all the sins of the world. Luke 1:1-4 Inasmuch as many have undertaken to compile an account of the things accomplished among us, just as they were handed down to us by those who from the beginning were eyewitnesses and servants of the word, it seemed fitting for me as well, having investigated everything carefully from the beginning, to write it out for you in consecutive order, most excellent Theophilus; so that you may know the exact truth about the things you have been taught . WOW!! Did you catch it? As Luke penned this to Theophilus, Luke also explained to him that h...

10-03-2022 - Maybe Today

Hello! It has been a LONG time, 3 months since my last "Maybe Today". I was transitioning jobs and also focusing more on the podcast and other personal issues.  I was prompted to write today and discuss false teachers and why the growth spurt seems to be happening all around us. It seems like we hear everyday of someone new shaming the name of Christ or spewing more false doctrine!  Just recently, Matt Chandler comes to mind. I could say a lot more on him and other Calvinists but that is for another time.  Those who follow the ticking clock of the times we live in, know what  1 Timothy 4:1-3  says. However, Jude 17-18 gives us more insight by saying,   But you, beloved, ought to remember the words that were spoken beforehand by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ, that they were saying to you, "In the last time there will be mockers, following after their own ungodly lusts .  These are the SAME enemies which have entered the church and  2 ...
